History
The Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC) is located in Southern California, in the historic city of Palm Springs; an area that enjoys nearly 354 days of sunshine a year and is nestled right at the foot of mountains, a national park and is a short drive from multiple beautiful beaches. The DRMC is a Level II Trauma Center and the only designated trauma center in the Coachella Valley, covering more than 8,000 square miles, 3 states and 2 countries. It has received advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and is also a STEMI center and a Level I Methamphetamine receiving center.
The Emergency Medicine program is a 3 year ACGME accredited program with over 70,000 ER visits per year of which roughly 20% are pediatric visits. In addition, we receive over 2000 trauma visits per year and have an 18.3% general admissions rate and a 3% critical care admissions rate. There are four other residency programs within the DRMC: FM, IM, Neurology and Neurosurgery. This means that we have an excellent faculty/staff to resident ratio and from the first day, access to very high numbers of procedural experiences. The first class of residents joined us in 2015. 8 residents are accepted each year.
