History
Memorial Healthcare System is one of the largest public healthcare systems in the U.S., with combined annual Emergency Department Volumes of ~500,000 patient visits. Memorial's 3-year EM residency program offers learners exposure to a diverse patient population. From the underserved urban environment of Memorial Regional Trauma Center to the suburban community of Memorial Hospital West and the highly specialized pediatric care at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital & Trauma Center, residents encounter a wide range of pathologies. High patient volume and acuity ensure comprehensive training, equipping residents to handle complex medical conditions and become well-rounded physicians capable of treating diverse populations. Our program is deeply committed to resident education, with dedicated time for case-based and interactive weekly didactics and monthly journal club. A robust curriculum covers essential emergency medicine topics and ensures comprehensive board exam preparation. Residents also benefit from state-of-the-art simulation training, allowing them to practice high-stakes scenarios in a controlled environment. Our EM residency program offers exceptional clinical training, a collaborative learning environment, and unique opportunities for professional development, all within a thriving and dynamic South Florida Community.
