Background
- Winnipeg is a city of 750,000 people located in central Canada and is the capital of Manitoba. The two major teaching hospitals act as a major referral center for the entire province of 1.2 million people, as well as parts of Northern Ontario, Nunavut and Saskatchewan.
- This is a 5-year Royal College accredited training program leading to specialist certification (FRCPC) in Emergency Medicine.
- Academic day is full-day protected time off clinical duties and takes place once a week.
- There are approximately 4 residents per cohort.
- Come July 2018, the residency program will be transitioning to the new competency-based medical education curriculum.

A variety of electives are offered in-house by the program. This includes:

Fellowships
- At this time, the Department of Emergency Medicine does not offer any formal fellowships. However, in the past, residents have pursued relevant fellowships from other departments.
