History
The residency program is ABEM/RRC-approved, since its inception in 1988 as a PGY 1-3 program with 12 resident physicians in each training year. Residents spend greater than 95% of their hospital-based training in the ED or Critical Care Units. Volume and pathology is high since Albany serves as a regional referral center as northeastern New York's only academic health science center.
