- Stanford
- Type A: Involves any portion of ascending aorta
- Type B: Isolated to descending aorta
- De Bakey
- Type I: Involves the ascending and descending aorta
- Type II: Involves only the ascending aorta
- Type III: Involves only the descending aorta
