EKG Screening

Only Attending Physicians should do the "STEMI Screen" in AAED. STEMI screen does not need to performed in the PED.

  1. The EKG tech should bring an attending the paper copy of each EKG to review as soon as it is completed. This is done because there can be delays in uploading EKG's to ORCHID, and because we are not always in front of ORCHID.
  2. If the EKG has been uploaded you may see the eyeglasses icon in the EKG column: double click to open the EKG an review it there. Write “No STEMI Activation” or "STEMI Activation”, whichever is appropriate.
  3. Click the “ED review and close” box to close the EKG and you should see a green checkmark in the EKG column. If there is a delay with uploading the EKG image to ORCHID, you should document the time of your review of the paper EKG once it does upload to ORCHID, i.e. “ED screen @1745: no STEMI Activation”.
