History

Since 1978 our department has hosted one of the original Emergency Medicine Residencies in the nation, while remaining progressive and innovative. Their residency has received continuous accreditation and has over 200 alumni who practice throughout the United States. They are committed to state of the art patient centered emergency care and strive for excellence in education and research.

Curriculum

PGY1

  • EM Orientation (Adult, Peds, procedures)
  • EM (primary institution ED) - 3 months
  • Pediatric EM - 1 month
  • Pediatric Inpatient - 1 month
  • Trauma Surgery - 1 month
  • OB/GYN - 1 month
  • Anesthesia/Ultrasound - 1 month at VA
  • Medicine/ICU - 1 month
  • Cardiology - 1 month
  • Neurosurgery - 1 month

PGY2

  • EM (combined primary institution & peds)
  • Surgical/Trauma ICU - 1.5 months
  • Medical ICU - 1 month
  • Pediatric Anesthesia - 2 weeks
  • Community EM/St. Lukes - 1 month

PGY3

  • EM (combined primary institution & peds)
  • Toxicology - 1 month
  • EMS/Ultrasound - 1 month
