Texas Tech University (Lubbock)

History

With the purpose of improving emergency medicine care in West Texas, we accepted our first class of residents in 2020. We took advantage of being at a large tertiary care teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma center that previously did not have any emergency medicine training. We have the opportunity to work with medical students from Texas Tech as well as with residents of nearly every other service. Given our geographic location, we serve an extremely large catchment area which helps provide an abundance of volume and pathology. As our program has grown and flourished, we are now in the process of expanding our class from 8 residents per year to 9 each year.
