Background
- Includes necrotizing forms of cellulitis, myositis, and fasciitis
- Two types:
- Type 1: polymicrobial infection
- Type 2: group A strep
- May occur in healthy individuals
- May occur via hematogenous spread from throat to site of blunt trauma
